Page checklist

  • Page title: Title adequately and briefly describes the content of the page
  • Page title: Title is different from other pages on the website (ex: Police Department Staff not just Staff)
  • Menu: Page is assigned to a logical menu
  • Menu: Menu label matches page title or is a shortened but still clear  version it
  • Headings: Page title is a heading 1 at the top of the page (automatic in visual editor, need page title widget or hero unit widget in pagebuilder)
  • Headings: Only one heading 1 per page and at the top of the page
  • Headings: Headings are sequential (h1, h2, h3)
  • Headings: No heading levels are skipped
  • Headings: Headings represent the structure of the content, particularly nested content
  • Headings: Heading text reflects the content that follows
  • Alt text: All images have alt text
  • Links: No broken links
  • Links: No written out URLs (use hyperlinks)
  • Links: No vague text such as “click here”
  • Links: Links to downloadable files include file type and size
  • Color contrast: All color has sufficient contrast between text and background
  • Style: Avoid unique formatting
    • No center alignment

    • No underline except hyperlinks
    • No italics
